Social Club (High Point Social Enterprises, Inc.)
Ballroom Dancing – This class meets on Mondays in the Community Center from 2:30-3:30. Beginners and Intermediate are welcomed. Learn the basic two step to more advanced steps. All types of dances are taught by experienced instructors. At least 8 couples are needed to continue this program. For more information, call Sylvia at 596-6006.
Bible Study – We extend an invitation to all to come enjoy Bible study with us each Sunday morning at 8:30 until approximately 9:15. The Bible study is led by volunteer lay people from High Point and is nondenominational. The purpose of the Bible study group is to understand the Bible, its messages, and its meaning in our everyday lives. Many lessons are geared to a core value of awareness with the theme “The Team Cooperates”. Bible references will be from I John, II John, and Jude. All of those who lead the study present well-prepared, interesting lessons. Come join us at 8:30 on Sunday mornings in the Community Center.

Bocce – Come and join the fun at our THREE bocce courts. We play on Sunday and Tuesday starting at 6pm. The courts are located by the parking lot. It is fun and easy to play. Let us show you how. Becky Shill 592-7066
High Point Bowling League – The league consists of High Point Residents and friends with 4 person teams being made up of two women and 2 men (if at all possible). Couples or singles and full-time or snow bird residents are welcome. We bowl every Tuesday afternoon starting at 2:00 PM sharp. The league bowls at Spring Hill lanes which is located at 3447 Commercial Way (US Hwy 19) in Spring Hill -about 15 minutes from High Point. We are a non-sanctioned, handicap league and the goal is to have fun. Our members span the complete range of bowlers from beginners to very qualified.
The league currently has 11 teams bowling a 34 week winter schedule which started on in September and will finish in April. Weekly fees are $11.00 which includes alley fees, secretary fees, and prize fund. Please contact Joyce Salisbury 596-6006.
Friday Bridge Club – Hello Bridge Players! We welcome all experienced Bridge players to join us every Friday at 12:30 pm in the Community Center. We play Chicago Bridge (no rubber or duplicate). The cost per week is $1.00. Contact Beverly Stark 597-4748
Wednesday Night Cards – The Community Center is open every Wednesday evening at 6PM for cards. Scheduled games are Pinochle,Euchre, Men’s Poker, Ladies Poker, 500, and Cribbage. For more information please contact the following:
Computer – Did you know our Community center is a Wi-Fi hotspot? Come in anytime to use it for free. Look for Hi Point Free net (passcode 3525962397)
- Computer Lectures are on the First and Third Thursdays from January through March. Lectures are 7pm to 9pm in the Community Center and cover a variety of topics. They are announced in the Monthly Newsletter. These lectures are free and open to all High Point Residents. There is no preregistration and topic is suitable for all experience levels. Come to all or pick just the topics that interest you.
- Surfing Seniors Computer Workshop – Surfing Seniors is a computer workshop for anyone interested in computers. This workshop is a drop- in type format. It runs from 10 – noon in the community center from January through March on Tuesdays. We are a group of novices through advanced computer users who enjoy sharing information and knowledge and helping others with computer questions. A formal lesson is NOT given and participants are encouraged to help others. Bring your laptop/tablet and just drop in!
- BEGINNERS please join us from 9-10 on Tuesdays from January thru March – instruction given on laptops, tablets and smartphones. Bring your device and your questions.

Concordia Chorus – We have started our group of “Senior Singers”. We meet in the Community Center on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 5 p.m. to go over the pieces to be performed at an area care center facility at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. So, it is easy to remember… practice Sunday/perform Tuesday. We are starting with just one performance a month. Once we get accustomed to singing together, we hope to go twice a month to a facility. This group is primarily singing melody. It is not necessary to even read music. We sing “the good old songs”. If you want to add some harmony, that would be great. Come and join us and see how much fun it is just to sing.

Dime Jingle – So much Fun! Come join us for fun and friendly competition. Every Friday Morning at 9:0. Come early 8:340 for Coffee Hour and get cake, bagels, biscuits with eggs, cheese and sausage or bacon, coffee, tea.
Garden Club – Fun! Fun! Fun! Come join us every third Thursday of the month at 10:30 am in the community center. Our group is responsible for seasonal decorations and planting around the community. We serve coffee, have a 50/50 raffle, and a raffle for plants. Sometimes we play bingo. Join us and help beautify our community. We are in need of more members. Please come join us. There is a $2.00 membership fee for the whole year – cheaper than a cup of Starbucks coffee and you will meet new friend. Contact Jack Rinaldi 593-8556.
Horseshoes – Anyone wishing to pitch horseshoes is invited to play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 11:30 am.

Line Dancing – We learn basic steps to various dances. Please wear proper leather shoes. Beginners are welcomed. If you have never line danced- additional time after our regular classes can be arranged. We meet on Monday afternoons in the Community Center from 1:00 to 2:30. Mahjong – Mahjong anyone? Join the fastest growing activity in High Point. Beginners welcome! Drop in and watch or join a game. Our Mahjong group meets every Tuesday at noon in the Community Center. Contact Barbara Leach 597-2885.
Mobile Patrol – The Mobile Patrol is an organization that helps provide a secure environment for the residents of High Point through frequent observation of the community streets, Mobile Patrol delivers a key service in keeping everyone safe. Come join us riding in our air conditioned truck, learn all the streets in High Point. Join up with a friend. You are protected at all times with radio connection with the Front Gate. We are not allowed to get out of the truck, but the Sheriff’s Department can be called at any time for back-up. We always need new patrollers. Quilters – The High Point Quilters welcome all our residents and guests to check out our beautiful quilts. We quilt on Monday from 10:15 until 12:15 , Wednesday from 9 AM until noon. Club project nights are on the first and third Thursdays from 6 – 9 pm. Sunday afternoon we work on personal projects from 1 PM until 4PM . We are willing to teach anyone who would like to learn. Share a Craft – What is Share-a-Craft? It’s a group of your friends and neighbors who gather weekly to share ideas and craft skills. We are a varied group with skills like Swedish weaving, beading (placemats, Christmas trees, candle holders, nightlights, etc.), knitting, crocheting, embroidery, jewelry making, plastic canvas items as well as other home and garden decor items. If you are having problems with a pattern or project and need some help or someone is working on something that interests you, we willingly share patterns and how-to’s. So, bring your current craft project, grab a chair, have a cup of coffee or just stop by to say hi and see the various projects people are working on. Everyone is welcome and we run year round (except for community center closures). There are no dues – no formalized programs – just a group of people having fun! We meet every Thursday from 12:30-3:00 pm in the community center

Shuffleboard – We have 6 full shuffle board courts which are lighted for evening play. Equipment is available at all times, however, organized play is conducted every Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm. Experience is not required and instruction is provided as needed. Social Club – The Social Club is a non profit organization. The yearly dues are just $5.00. All monies collected go back to the community in the form of donations to the Fire Department, Mobile Patrol, Garden Club and the High Point Homeowner’s Association, Meals for Shut-ins, and other worthwhile causes.
- Our board meetings are the THIRD Monday of each month at 10 am in the Community Center board room.
- Monthly member meetings are the FIRST Tuesday of each month at 7PM in the Community Center. Meetings are followed by entertainment and refreshments.
- FUN NIGHTS – THIRD Saturday of the month at 7PM in the Community Center. BYOB and snacks. Music is provided for this social get-together. The cost is $5.00 for social club members and $6.00 for non-social club members. - The social club sponsors the Ballroom and Line dancing classes, Nursery Days and the bi-monthly High Point Bulletin
- The Social Club sponsors an annual Christmas Party, Ice Cream social and sponsors the ONLY Fourth of July parade in Hernando County. Come join in on the fun and join us!
Travel Club -The High Point Travel Club started back in 1974. The Club was formed for the purpose of having an outlet for High Point residents to have the ability to travel utilizing group rates and discounts. The Club has had much success in its 33 years of operation. Most of our trips are geared towards the senior, retired individual. Our Club members have enjoyed the many and varied trips that have been offered over the years. We do day trips, multi-day trips, cruises and land tours. Our members have traveled the World! The Club has enjoyed a robust membership over the years and currently has over 200 members. We hope you will consider joining the High Point Travel Club
